FIBA World Cup 2023

The FIBA World Cup 2023 that just concluded was originally set to take place in 2018 but was moved up a year to put it on a separate cycle from the FIFA World Cup. For this reason, the event will return in 2023.

From August 25 to September 10, Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines will host the FIBA Basketball World for the very first time.

Host selection

To begin accepting bids for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the governing body made the decision on June 7th, 2016. Both Russia and Turkey ultimately decided not to bid for hosting the World Cup, and on June 1st, 2017, FIBA revealed the list of applicants.

After a competitive competition with Argentina and Uruguay, it was declared on December 9 that Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines had won the bid and would host the next World Cup.

All three countries hosting games at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023—Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines—have each chosen their preferred teams to compete in the Group Stage.

Following discussions with the host countries, the FIBA Central Board has confirmed that the United States will travel to the Philippines, Slovenia will visit Japan, and Canada will visit Indonesia. Slovenia and Canada are already confirmed for the World Cup, and the United States has a solid chance of joining them if they win their remaining matches in the last Window of qualifying.

Each host could pick a favorite team for financial reasons without compromising the fairness of the tournament or the random selection of teams.

The outright is a type of betting line on which bettors pick the team they think will win the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Moneyline odds refer to single-game wagers in which the outcome is determined by who you pick to win. While the point spread is similar to the money line, with the exception of the handicap, which is expressed in points.

Bettors at the FIBA World Cup will have many venues from which to choose. Each game will have its own set of betting possibilities, and there will also be futures on who will win the FIBA World Cup overall. There will be basketball odds shown next to each wagering option. That percentage represents how likely it is that you will win your wager.

The odds are denoted by the numbers next to each country's name, which may be followed by a plus or minus sign. If a team's point spread has a positive value, it is considered the underdog because of the odds against them winning. Conversely, a negative number indicates that the favorite team is expected to win.
